Synopsis: This document explains how to force all outbound email from MailSite to another server or a SmartHost.
More Information: By default MailSite will try to deliver all external email to the relevant server by querying DNS for MX records for each domain. If you wish to force all email to be sent to a specific server then this can be done using the Routes option.
To do this:
- Open the MailSite Console and navigate to Server > Routes
- In the Domain Mask enter "*" (without the quotes). "*" indicates ALL domains
- Select Force
- Select Add
- Select Routes
- Enter the IP or host name of the server where you would like to forward all email to.
Now instead of looking for MX records in DNS, MailSite will send any non local email straight to the IP or HOST specified within the Route for "*".
If you wish to route email for specific domains to another server then you can enter the relevant name under the Domain Mask. The routes are processed from top to bottom.
